Why do I do this to myself?

I sit all clenched up and barely breathing watching this show on Discovery Health channel. I clutch my belly, curl in my toes and squint my eyes with every scream of pain every single one of these women give.Ay...Then I think, the reason I watch is because the end result is always the same: the birth of a baby, the tears of a mother, a father and as her body relaxes so does mine and I begin to tear up watching this crap on TV counting the days happily till my day comes.*sniff*

They actually have shows that show a woman in pain while giving birth? That's amazing.I bet she's still laying flat on her back the whole time though...

For the most part, I'm clenching because it is a TOTAL hospital delivery in every sense of the word. However, they do also feature "alternative" birthing methods (i.e. home birth, birthing centers, midwives); so it's always interesting in those episodes.

Yeah, those things make me so nervous. Even with my kid being sort of big, I only had ONE stitch. I can't see how anyone can have up in the double digits--where is there even room for that many? Everything about it makes me queasy. I'm happy to be doing this at home. :)

Wait until you get to the hospital and hear the gal in the next room screaming her head off! That was the excact second that I decided to get the epidural. But my anxiety about labor was worse than the actual deal. Birth pain is not that bad, especially since you know the pain will end with a nice little gift!
